Dr. Kenneth P. Rebong’s new article is a guide to creating mental health treatment plans, what a mental health treatment plan is, why it is needed.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to making the treatment plan work. However, time and effort need to be put in from both the ends to ensure that the plan is followed.”

— Dr. Kenneth P. Rebong, pediatrician

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, July 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Also children and adolescents are sometimes facing mental health issues. Upon consultation with their psychiatrist, therapist, mental health counselor, or any other mental health professional, they may be told of the need for a treatment plan in their case. When appropriate, your health care provider may sit down with you and write out a mental health treatment plan. At this point, you may wonder why the doctor didn’t simply prescribe the meds that your child needs and save both his/her and your time.

Dr. Kenneth Rebong has published an overview article on such issues. The complete article will be published on the Blog of Dr. Rebong at https://drkennethrebong.wordpress.com/

It is crucial to understand that a proper mental health treatment plan is the way to go when your child or teenager is dealing with a serious mental health issue. What is a mental health treatment plan, and what are the aims of this treatment plan? And how can one make a successful treatment plan? Let’s find out.

What Is a Mental Health Treatment Plan?

A mental health care plan is a plan for people with mental health issues. This plan is generally composed by their doctors for treating their mental condition. The plan highlights the type of health care the patient requires and covers the aims and objectives of the entire treatment process. All of this and other details are spelled out in the form of a rough timeline that makes it easier to follow.

Who Is Eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan?

A mental health treatment plan is primarily beneficial for people with mental health conditions ranging from minor issues to major ones to everything in between. In addition to those suffering from mental illnesses, people with anxiety issues, distress, developmental, or learning disabilities can also be considered for mental health treatment plans. This form of mental health care is also great for bullies or those being bullied or suffering from gender dysphoria.

What Are the Reasons to Have a Treatment Plan?

As it is widely known that planning helps you stay organized and on top of all things, there are benefits of a treatment plan beyond just that.
A mental health treatment plan provides a guideline for both the therapist and client that allows both parties to stay on the same page. There is also a lesser risk of anything going wrong or any sort of miscommunication between the therapist and client since they have settled on terms and conditions beforehand.

Tips to Create a Treatment Plan

A treatment plan varies depending on the mental issue of a patient that a healthcare professional is dealing with. That being said, all treatment plans follow the basic template given below:

1. Patient Information
At the top of the page, the counselor will fill in the personal information of their patient such as their name, social security number, insurance information, the date of the plan, etc.
2. Diagnostic Summary
In this section, the counselor will spell out the patient’s summary diagnosis and the duration of the treatment.
3. Aims and Goals
The third part will include issues, objectives, and goals. And the time frame within which they intend to achieve said goals.
4. Signature
Last but not least, the signatures of both the therapist and the patient are needed to seal the deal.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to making the treatment plan work. However, time and effort need to be put in from both the ends to ensure that the plan is followed and that the treatment is a success.

NEURO KINETICS, INC. AWARDED 25TH PATENT

Green Head/Eye Icon with Green and Blue Verbiage

I-PAS™ (I-Portal® Portable Assessment System) for Neuro-Functional Assessments by Neuro Kinetics, Inc.

Got the Silver … Going for Gold

The technology protected by this patent provides precise information for clinicians to help them quantify a patient's deficits and monitor recovery. It is particularly helpful for concussion patients.”

— Dr. Alex Kiderman, Chief Technology Officer, Neuro Kinetics, Inc.

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, UNITED STATES, July 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Neuro Kinetics, Inc. (NKI), the global leader in clinical eye tracking and neural functional assessment, today announces the award of another new patent. This one protects pupillometry, stimulus synchronization, and specific, discrete measurements related to detecting neuro-functional deficits — including concussion (mTBI) — when using NKI’s I-PAS™ (I-Portal® Portable Assessment System). The patent is number 10,314,485 and was issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

NKI’s FDA-cleared I-PAS™ is a compact, lightweight, head-mounted test system that measures neuro-functional performance with exceptional sensitivity. It can be used in almost any environment; is non-invasive; uses 4-D eye-tracking technology; measures binocular eye data in real-time; and provides stimulus feedback to run an extensive set of oculomotor, vestibular and reaction time (OVRT) tests, the majority of which are FDA-cleared for use by healthcare professionals responsible for measuring neuro-functional deficits.

This new patent, titled “Portable Goggle-based VOG System with Comparative Left- And Right-Eye Ocular Response Analysis With mTBI Analysis Using Percent of Saccade Function of Smooth Pursuit Test,” ups NKI’s U.S. patent portfolio to an impressive 25. The patent covers both hardware and software aspects of NKI’s state-of-the-art eye-tracking systems necessary to execute the associated tests. No other device manufacturer has NKI’s extensive battery of OVRT tests to comprehensively evaluate one’s neuro-functional performance.

NKI began marketing its head-mounted I-PAS™ System after receiving FDA clearance as a Class II medical device in November 2018. I-PAS™ is portable, does not require a dark room, provides high-resolution clinical data, and is easy to use.

“The technology protected by this new patent provides more precise information for clinicians, helping them identify and quantify their patients’ deficits and monitor their recovery progress. This technology is particularly helpful for concussion patients,” explained Dr. Alex Kiderman, Chief Technology Officer for NKI. "This patent covers the ability to map pupil response details for each eye separately,” he continued, “including amplitude, constriction velocity, constriction and dilation acceleration, and maximum pupil dilation. It gives the clinician a uniquely informative set of ophthalmic and neuro-functional information."

This patent also lists techniques for identifying and measuring: the saccadic(1) (jumpy) movements of one’s eye(s) in a smooth pursuit test, as well as micro-saccades; corrective or secondary saccades; and reaction times. NKI’s extensive data set enables clinicians to precisely measure neuro-functional performance. The metrics can be used not only to help identify concussion patients, but also to profile and quantify the abilities of superior athletes, monitor neuro-functional improvements or changes, or to help rehabilitate and train subjects or patients.

NKI’s I-Portal® technology captures each pupil movement separately at a rate of 100+ frames per second with a position sensitivity of .01 degrees. This level of resolution begins to match the signal processing of the brain and exceeds the ability of the naked eye to observe, or what NKI refers to as ‘The Science to See™.’ A clinician can now objectively measure and observe the subtle differences between controls and patient. Further, many studies have mapped the pathways/sections of the brain engaged in the execution of these tests. A physician may now better detect the specific areas of the brain affected by mTBI, ultimately helping therapists and other health care providers design and implement more effective rehabilitation protocols.

A wide range of medical professionals — including neurotologists, audiologists, chiropractic neurologists, neuro-ophthalmologists, physical therapists, and sports medicine specialists — are currently using NKI’s I-PAS™. Important professional sports users such as INDYCAR have integrated I-PAS™ into their concussion evaluation protocols. Healthcare professionals rely on I-PAS™ to monitor neurologic functions by measuring eye position, pupil response, conjugate reflexes, and reaction time, and use these measurements to provide a detailed window into the performance of the brain, and ultimately, their patients’ health.

ABOUT NKI
Neuro Kinetics, Inc. (NKI) is the leader in clinical eye tracking and non-invasive neuro-functional diagnostics and monitoring, offering technology that identifies abnormal eye responses connected to more than 200 diseases and medical conditions. With more than 150 installations, NKI’s FDA-cleared I-Portal® devices are sold to physical therapists, audiologists, ENTs, neurotologists, neuro-chiropractors, neuro-ophthalmologists, and neurologists around the globe. The company's FDA-cleared diagnostic platforms include the I-PAS™ (I-Portal® Portable Assessment System), I-Portal® NOTC (Neuro-Otologic Test Center), I-Portal® VNG, (Video Nystagmography) and I-Portal® VOG (Video Oculography), along with related accessories, software, training, and support services. To learn more, please refer to the RESOURCES page on NKI’s website (www.neuro-kinetics.com) for research on the role of I-Portal® in various concussion, vestibular, and other studies.

(1) Saccades are rapid movements of the eyes when an eye abruptly changes its point of fixation. They range from micro movements made while reading, to much larger movements, such as when a person jumps their focus from one object to another around a room. Saccades can be elicited voluntarily, but occur reflexively. Eye movement to a target takes about 200 milliseconds to initiate. During this delay, the position of the target (with respect to the distance the eye must move between the start position and new position[s]) is measured. (Neuroscience. 2nd edition. Neurological Symptoms of Vaginal Mesh Injuries Ignored as AUGS Does Nothing

TVM devices have caused 1000s of women neurological injuries including ilioinguinal, pudendal, & obturator neuralgia, as well as complex regional pain syndrome.

Without AUGS requiring mandatory CME women are left to the internet to figure out their diagnosis.”

— Dr. Greg Vigna

SANTA BARBARA, CA, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, July 16, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Polypropylene transvaginal mesh (TVM) devices have been in the US market for over two decades causing neurological injuries to thousands of women. Unfortunately, the symptoms of the neurological injuries that include ilioinguinal neuralgia, pudendal neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome, and obturator neuralgia remain ignored and poorly understood by urologists, gynecologists, and urogynecologists because of a lack of warning by the manufacturers of the specific nerves the devices injure, the magnitude of harm, and frequency of injuries, along with the embarrassing lack of affirmative action by American Urogynecological Society (AUGS) to ensure the safety of women they are entrusted to protect.

The focus of Dr. Geoffrey Cundiff, President of AUGS, is misguided to the detriment of women as evidenced by ‘President’s Perspective’ on the front page of AUGS’ website as it focuses on the ethics of Expert Witnesses who offer testimony based on their individual skill, knowledge, experience, and training. AUGS is attempting to limit the testimony of the growing ‘substantial minority’ of its members that have concluded that certain devices are unreasonably dangerous by making Plaintiff Experts subject to disciplinary action by AUGS that it views as ‘deliberately erroneous, deceptive, misleading or without scientific basis.'

AUGS is entrusted to protect women and to date has not required its members to perform mandatory Continued Medical Education (CME) on the symptoms of neurological injuries associated with the devices and the treatment options available understanding that timely diagnosis and treatment of neurological injury can limit the harm caused by these devices.

Dr. Greg Vigna, a practicing physician, national pharmaceutical injury attorney, and Certified Life Care Planner states, “Without AUGS requiring mandatory CME women are left to the internet to figure out their diagnosis. The symptoms of neurological injuries include burning, shooting, numbness, and stabbing pain. Women can’t wear tight pants because of allodynia and have vivid description of feeling a foreign body such as a golf ball in their anus or vagina. Pain may be referred to the medial aspect of the thigh, painful bladder filling, numbness of the clitoris or hyperarousal, and tail bone pain.”

The FDA has acted to remove the Boston Scientific Uphold device and the Coloplast DirectFix Anterior device used in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse on April 16, 2019.

Dr. Vigna adds, “Dr. Cundiff and Board Members of the AUGS need to take a hard look at its past failures instead of focusing on activities of testifying experts because the transobturator slings are marching down the same path that led to the FDA banning the transvaginal mesh devices used for pelvic organ prolapse as AUGS did nothing to protect women from unreasonably dangerous devices. Clearly, the FDA will soon determine that the transobturator and minislings on the market are Class III devices (higher-risk) that will lead to the removal of the Boston Scientific Obtryx and Solyx slings, Ethicon TVT-O sling, and the Coloplast Altis and Aris slings to extinction as they offer no benefit when compared to the retropubic sling with severe risk of permanent neurological injury.”

For articles, video resources, and information on the neurological complications of TVM visit the Pudendal Neuralgia Educational Portal or https://tvm.lifecare123.com/. We also have a new eBook discussing the consequences of sling implantation.

MSU in cooperation with Dick DeLauder along with The Myositis Association (TMA) are honored to establish the Mary Jane DeLauder Memorial Fund.

LINCOLN, DE, UNITED STATES, July 16, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Myositis Support and Understanding (MSU) in cooperation with Dick DeLauder along with The Myositis Association (TMA) are honored to establish the Mary Jane DeLauder Memorial Fund.

Mary Jane Thurmond DeLauder (MJ) of Indialantic, Florida, an advocate for patients all of her life, passed away in June 2019 after living with the rare disease sporadic inclusion body myositis (sIBM) for 25 years. Her passion for welcoming and educating was well-known throughout the myositis community. That’s why we can think of no better way to honor and remember her than to establish this memorial fund to help IBM patients and caregivers attend the TMA Annual Patient Conference in her name.

Education and support, for patients and caregivers both, was something MJ worked to deliver. This memorial fund will be used to help members with inclusion body myositis (IBM), who are engaged in the MSU online support communities and require financial assistance, attend the TMA Annual Patient Conference.

MJ was an avid supporter of IBM patients through both organizations, MSU and TMA. Her work on behalf of myositis patients started with TMA, where she served on the board of directors in 2008. She and her husband Dick were great resources to TMA members learning to deal with IBM, where, at the Annual Patient Conference they would join and lead sessions and caregiver panels. MJ was an active member of the SW Florida KIT group.

As MSU began forming their individual online support groups, MJ was one of the original, and longest-serving, admins, and she was instrumental in helping to create the guidelines that got the groups going and kept the family-like, supportive atmosphere so many people have come to know and love.

In her role as administrator of the MSU myositis support groups, MJ was always quick to welcome new members, answer a question, cheer up someone who was down, or share her experiences about adapting to life with IBM. MJ also served as the leader of the MSU Inclusion Body Myositis Patient Video Support Sessions for many months. While MSU was forming the non-profit, MJ was available for advice and questions on how we wanted the organization to function.

Dick DeLauder, MJ’s husband and care partner, is honored to have this memorial fund established in her name. His wish for this fund is that it reflects MJ’s passion for education and patient involvement in the community, and he will match donations made during annual fundraising for this award.

For this first year, MSU worked closely with TMA to pick a recipient for the 2019 Memorial Fund's award, which covers all costs for a patient and their caregiver to attend the TMA Annual Conference. The 2020 Mary Jane DeLauder Memorial Fund details will be available online later this year.

About Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM)

Sporadic inclusion body myositis (sIBM) is one of a group of rare muscle diseases called inflammatory myopathies and is a progressive muscle disease characterized by muscle inflammation, weakness, and atrophy (muscle wasting). Inclusion body myositis (IBM) is the most common acquired myopathy in those age 50 and older. The symptoms and rate of progression vary heavily from person to person.

About MSU

Myositis Support and Understanding Association (MSU), founded by myositis patients, was created after identifying a need for more patient-focused programs and services. MSU is an all-volunteer, patient-centered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting patients and caregivers affected by the Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies, myositis, which includes dermatomyositis, polymyositis, immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy, inclusion body myositis, and Antisynthetase syndrome, along with the juvenile forms of dermatomyositis – and polymyositis.
