WRAIR brings the science to MHSRS 26
This year, more than 80 scientists and staff from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and its forward directorates WRAIR-Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences, WRAIR-Africa, WRAIR-Europe-Middle East, and WRAIR-West participated in the Military Health System Research Symposium where they shared their most recent scientific results via oral presentations, posters, and panel moderation.
WRAIR joined approximately 3,800 other participants from research institutions, military organizations, and industry around that world at MHSRS 2026 in Kissimmee, Florida from Sunday, August 2nd to Thursday, August 6th. MHSRS is a conference focused on exchanging information and forging collaborations specifically on the unique medical needs of the deployed Warfighter.
“MHSRS is one of the premiere places for WRAIR to share our research,” said Col. Brianna Perata, Commander of WRAIR. “This conference creates the opportunity for our scientists, who are world leaders in their fields, to deliver the latest updates in their cutting-edge research in support of the Warfighter.”
At MHSRS this year, representatives from WRAIR moderated 7 breakout sessions, gave 14 talks, and presented more than 50 posters on topics including measuring the identifying diagnostic biomarkers of traumatic brain injury, the results of new phage treatments on antibiotic-resistant bacteria, the benefits of in-person versus virtual mental health training, and much more.
“MHSRS is more than a simple opportunity for us to share what we’ve learned,” said Col. Perata. “It is also a crucial opportunity for us to learn from our peers and lay the foundation for new collaborations. WRAIR strives to continue to produce the premiere research that protects force health and global health.”
